Getting started

What is a design consultation?

It is a visit to your home where we measure the room, check the structure, plumbing, drainage and ventilation, and talk with you about how the space should work. Afterwards we prepare a written scope and quotation.

Which areas do you cover?

Warragul 3820 and surrounding towns, including Drouin, Nilma, Darnum, Buln Buln, Yarragon, Trafalgar, Neerim South, Longwarry, Bunyip, Drouin South, Brandy Creek, Jindivick and Labertouche.

Why is there no pricing on the website?

Bathrooms differ widely in size, condition, layout and selections, and hidden issues such as water damage affect the scope. A site visit allows us to give you an accurate written quotation.

Do I have to decide everything at the first visit?

No. The consultation is a starting point. We help you work through layout, finishes and fixtures, and the scope is finalised before any work begins.

Can I choose my own tiles, tapware and vanity?

Yes, in most cases. We check that your selections suit the waterproofing, plumbing rough-in and layout, and confirm lead times before scheduling.

Homes in Baw Baw

My house is on stumps. Does that change the renovation?

It can. Timber floors move more than concrete slabs, so we check stumps, bearers and joists, choose suitable substrates and membranes, and design movement joints accordingly. Uneven floors may need levelling or restumping first.

We are on tank water. Is that a problem for a new bathroom?

Not at all. We consider pump pressure, filtration and fixture flow rates so showers perform well and water is used carefully.

Our property has a septic system. Can we add an ensuite?

Often, yes, but adding fixtures increases wastewater load. Council approval may be needed to alter an on-site wastewater system, so we discuss this early.

Do you work on older weatherboard homes in Warragul?

Yes. Older homes may have asbestos sheeting, aged plumbing or uneven floors, so we plan for testing and repairs where needed.

Our home is in a bushfire-prone area. Does that matter?

For most internal bathroom work it does not. If the project involves new windows, external doors or an extension requiring a permit, bushfire construction requirements may apply.

Waterproofing and leaks

What standard do you follow for waterproofing?

Wet area waterproofing is installed in line with AS 3740, with membranes applied to the correct extent and upturns, and photographed before tiling.

How can I tell if my shower is leaking?

Common signs include loose or drummy tiles, crumbling grout, stains or swelling on nearby walls, skirting or cupboards, musty smells and mould that keeps returning.

Can regrouting fix a leaking shower?

Rarely. If water has passed the tiles because the membrane has failed, regrouting only hides the issue. Replacing the waterproofing usually means removing tiles.

Is a hobless shower possible in my home?

In many homes, yes. Level-entry showers need correct falls and drainage, which may involve recessing the floor or using a linear drain. Homes on stumps are often well suited to this.

The work itself

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

It depends on the scope, the curing times of materials and lead times for items such as vanities and screens. We provide a schedule with your quotation.

Will we be able to live at home during the renovation?

Most clients stay at home. If the renovated bathroom is your only one, we discuss how to minimise the time you are without a shower.

Who carries out the plumbing and electrical work?

Licensed plumbers and electricians, who provide compliance documentation where required.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Our team and trades are licensed and insured for the work they perform.

Do bathroom renovations need a permit?

Most renovations within the existing room do not need a building permit, but structural changes, extensions and some conversions do. Plumbing and electrical certificates apply to much of the work.

What happens if you find damage after removing the old tiles?

We show you what we have found, explain the options and agree on any additional work in writing before proceeding.

How do you manage dust and mess?

We protect floors and access paths, contain dust where practical and keep the work area tidy each day.

Design and finishes

What grout do you recommend for showers?

Stain-resistant grouts, such as epoxy, are well suited to shower floors. Cement-based grouts can work well on walls when sealed and maintained.

How can I reduce mould in my bathroom?

Good ventilation is key. We recommend an exhaust fan ducted to the outside, sized for the room and ideally linked to the light or a timer.

Can you design a bathroom that suits an older family member?

Yes. We plan step-free showers, grab rail backing, slip-resistant floors, comfortable heights and good lighting while keeping the room attractive.

Do you renovate laundries and mudrooms?

Yes. We design laundries suited to country living, with durable floors, drainage, drying space and storage for boots and outdoor gear.

Do you replace shower screens and vanities without a full renovation?

Yes, where the existing waterproofing and tiles are in sound condition.

After handover

What do we receive at the end of the project?

A walkthrough of the finished room, care instructions, product warranties and compliance documents, plus records of the waterproofing.

How should we care for our new bathroom?

Ventilate after showers, use pH-neutral cleaners, squeegee glass and tiles, and check silicone joints periodically.
